NSS report 2023-24

NSS Report Academic Year: 2023-24.

NSS Committee has been formed in the month of June under the Guidance of In-charge Principal Dr Nagesh Suryawanshi. Activities for the year 2023-24 are also started in the same month itself.  This year we enrolled 62 boys and 38 girls. There are College level, University Level and Area Base Project Activities of which details are provided as follows:

Area Based Project-I: 

                                      In Area-based Project-I, we conducted the following activities: On the 6th of August 2023, a tree plantation drive was organized at Gundge village (Karjat, Mumbai), which is one of the camping sites of the Gokhale Education Society. Approximately 31 different saplings were planted. Simultaneously, on behalf of the college, two retired army personnel were felicitated by the NSS Unit of our college, with a total of 54 volunteers participating in this activity. On the 3rd of September 2023, our NSS unit visited the Ashram School at Kosbad Hill, Dahanu, and donated 60 notebooks and 60 kits consisting of pencils, sharpeners, scales, etc., to economically backward students of the school. Additionally, we carried out a Swachhata Abhiyan activity at the school campus, with a total of 28 volunteers participating. On the 3rd of March 2024, our NSS unit visited the Pasaydan Anath Ashram at Khadivli and donated 50 blankets to the ashram as well as workers in the area. This activity was fully sponsored by Vijay Kulkarni (Akhil Bhartiya Mathadi Kamgar Sangha, Maharashtra) through a donation of blankets worth 6250 rupees. A total of 28 volunteers participated in this activity. Details of the activities are as follows:

Area Based Project-II:


In Area-based Project-II, we conducted the following activities: At the very beginning of this academic year, on 11/7/2023, we visited KEM Hospital, Parel, and donated fruits to the children admitted in Wards I, II, and III. This activity was fully sponsored by Prof. Shubharaj Buwa Sir, and we are very thankful to him. On 15/8/23, we prepared paper bags in the college library using old newspapers, which is called the “Waste out of Waste” activity. On 9/0/23, our NSS volunteers did a great job by distributing pamphlets for the Blood Donation Drive, successfully organized on 12/9/2023. A total of 50 units of blood were collected that day with the sincere efforts of all NSS volunteers. Every year, our NSS volunteers participate in the Traffic Warden activity at Lalbagh Raja, Lalbagh, during the Ganesh festival to assist the police in the smooth conduction of the festival. This year, 25 volunteers participated in this activity. Our NSS volunteers also participated in clean-up drives at Dadar Chowpaty, Parel Bus Depot, and Mithi River organized in association with Jay Foundation on 29/10/23, 05/11/23, and 21/1/24, respectively. 7 Day Residential Camp: 

                                           As per the university circular, we have to arrange a 7-day residential camp in the Adopted Village. This year, our NSS Unit organized a 7-day residential camp at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kosbad, Dahanu from 24/12/23 to 30/12/23. A total of 33 volunteers attended the camp. On 24/12/2023, the camp was inaugurated in the presence of In-Charge Principal Prof. Nagesh Suryawanshi, Head of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Prof. Vilas Jadhav, and Retired Principal of B.Ed College of Vikaswadi (Dahanu) Prof. Pradip Raut. Throughout the seven days, volunteers were engaged in activities such as yoga early in the morning at 5:30 am, breakfast from 7-8 am, shramdan from 8 am to 11 am, lunch preparation from 11 am to 1 pm, theme-based lectures from 1 pm to 2 pm, village visits/skits from 3 pm to 6 pm, and dinner. On the 30th of December, the valedictory function took place. Dr. Ashwini Torane chaired the session, and Prof. Dr. Vilas Jadhav also provided valuable guidance to all NSS volunteers.
