INNOVATIVE CURRICULAR PROGRAMME  

Covid-19 struck the country and the state of Maharashtra went into a lockdown from 17th March 2020.  From 25th March the whole nation went into a lockdown. College was closed from 17th March 2020.  The faculty of Dr. TK Tope College was quick to seize the opportunity in the challenging situation.  Our faculty initiated online teaching and learning program even before receiving directions of the University of Mumbai.  The following are the highlights of the online learning and teaching program:

1.     Cent per cent of our faculty has undergone training in Online Teaching and Learning through various Faculty Development Programmes of 15 days duration conducted by various Universities and Colleges in the country.  One such popular program was ‘Managing Online Classes and Co-creating MOOCs 3.0’ conducted by Ramanujam College, University of Delhi.

2.     Use of Google Class Room Learning Management System and Zoom for delivering online education to our students in the months of May, June, and July 2020.

3.     Conduct of online Viva-Voce for the students of M Com of our college.

4.     Publication of Electronic Books is a special initiative of our faculty.  More than 20 E-books on various courses of the University of Mumbai are uploaded on our college website www.tktopenightcollege.in   Our faculty members have also conducted several online Quiz Contests for our students during this period.

MOU/COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVE

1.     Conduct of one week training program on ‘Capital Market in India’ in collaboration with Bombay Stock Exchange’s Brokers’ Forum is a regular feature of the college.

2.     Visit to the Bombay Stock Exchange is also a regular feature which takes place in collaboration with the BSE Brokers’ Forum.

3.     A collaborative initiative is underway between American India Foundation & Garware Institute of Career Education and Development and Dr. TK Tope Arts & Commerce College to provide free professional courses leading to employment to the students of our college.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

1.     An international webinar on ‘Covid-19 Crisis – International Experience, Common man’s perspective and Expert Opinion was organized on 15th June 2020.  About 300 persons participated in the webinar.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBEF1BILZp0&t=217s

2. A national level online workshop to review the revised assessment framework of NAAC was organised  on 27th & 28th April 2021 – 5:30 pm to 7 pm.   Principal Anjali Patwardhan-Kulkarni, Principal,  N. B. 3.     Four days State level webinar on ‘Western Political Thought’ was organised during the period 14th July 2020 to 17th July 2020.  “Western Political Thought” – from 14th to 17th July 2020.

4.     A State level Webinar was conducted by the Department of Economics on ‘Impact of Covid-19 on the Agricultural Sector of Maharashtra’ on 31st July 2020.  YouTube link.

August 2020 to March 2020 – (Academic year 2020-21)

Academic year 2020-21 started on 7th August 2020, a delay of almost two months than the regular schedule, mainly due to the COVID-19 crisis and lockdowns implemented to curb it.

Lockdown was effective since 17th March 2020.  Second term exams for academic year 2019-20 were also postponed.

Total term days = 146 (including Sundays and holidays)

Working days = 117 days

Teaching days = 90 days

Examination = 27 days

(August – 21 days, September – 26 days, October – 27 days, November – 17 days, December – 26 days)

Diwali vacation from 12th November 2020 to 18th November 2020 – 7 days.

Second term started from 1st January 2020 and will end on 31st May 2020 – total 147 days. (including Sundays and Holidays)

Admission committee

This year admission process was completely online for BA, BCom and M. Com classes.  It started in June 2020 and ended in September 2020.  Due to the ongoing Corona crisis admissions were badly affected.  Several online and offline meetings of the committee were held to finalise the admission software and to review the admissions.  Office staff and some past students helped to complete the process, as usual.

MCQ based online exams were conducted in September, October, November, and December 2020 as per Mumbai University guidelines.  It was a new experience and humongous task.   Prof. Shubharaj Buwa coordinated all the online processes He guided all other staff members in preparing online question papers in Google forms, assigning marks, uploading question papers, arranging them according to the time table, managing a group of all students on Telegram, conversion of marks as per University guidelines and uploading the final result with the help of 16 YouTube videos, which received numerous views and comments[1].  Many other colleges referred to our system. 

ATKT registrations online.

ATKT registrations were done online for the first time, as students are staying outside Mumbai and it was difficult to travel due to lockdown. 

Several committee meetings were held as and when required.  Discussion of issues continued on the College group online.

IQAC

Prof. Shubharaj Buwa was appointed as the coordinator of the IQAC from Academic year 2020-21.  

ISO Internal Audit was conducted on 28th December 2020 between 12.00 and 3.00 pm.  Dr. Chetan Chavan, was the Internal Auditor for this ISO 9001- 2015 audit.  Prof. Shubharaj Buwa, Dr. Prakash Sawant, Prof. Pankaj Pandagle and other members of the IQAC were present for the audit.  Audit process was completed successfully.

A meeting of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was held in the Principal’s office in College on 27th January 2021, at 12:00 pm. Distribution of work among all members and other important topics were discussed. All members attended the meeting.

NSS

NSS enrolment process was completed by the end of September 2020.  As usual, 100 volunteers were registered for this year’s batch.   A meeting of NSS advisory committee was also held on 25th December 2020.  Online lectures and seminars were conducted and the college NSS unit also participated in several activities organised by the University.  Due to lockdown most of the activities were conducted online.

Cultural and Student welfare

Following competitions were held online between 9th and 17th January 2021: –

  6. Online quiz
  7. Singing
  8. Essay

Many students participated in these activities.  Results were declared immediately.  Dr. Ashwini Torane organised all the events.

College honoured by  first prize -Overall Trophy in ANTARANG 2021– Inter collegiate Competition organised by Kirti College ,Dadar, held on 20-21st February 2021.

Sports committee

It was not possible to organise sports activities in this academic year due to the lockdown imposed in Mumbai.

Grievance committee

No problems reported to the grievance committee during this period.

Attendance committee

Prof. Sandeep Kajabe was appointed as the chairperson of the Attendance committee.

Special cell

Special cell helped students to fill the government scholarship forms and organised various programmes explaining various government schemes.

Staff meetings

Online and offline staff meetings were held during the year.

Magazine committee

Publication of the annual college magazine for the academic year 2020-21 will be done in June 2021.  Almost all the material has been collected.  Chief editor is busy giving finishing touches to the magazine.

Online lectures
